Trash & Recycling Pod - Ken, via speaker phone
We think we have three 32-gallon Rubbermaid trash cans, and we think the ones for recyclables have lids.
We have a burn barrel, for burning trash at night.
Ken won't be at the container load-in.
T&R minions: Eric, James, Lee-kai, Linda May
The dump in Fernley closes at 3pm, so Tuesday the flatbed truck has to leave the playa by noon-ish.
Last year, we sent some recyclable plastics back on the container because Fernley is usually full by Tuesday.
Aluminum cans can be recycled on the playa.
Ken will look into alternative places to dump recyclables, maybe the Reno recycling center?
There are links to places like that on the AutoSub website/wiki, or try The Civilized Explorer.
Ken's making a solar oven for dehydrating wet food scraps.
Ken would like to personally buy trash bags (he plans to show up when the gates open).
Early crew will have to bring some trash bags for those first days.
Beer Pod - Doug
We've got four kegs of CBC beer.
If we run out, we'll make friends with the beer people behind us.
Kitchen - Jenn
Jenn needs 10 more surveys and some meal plans/chefs so that she can make a shopping list.
Kitchen needs a good knife, but other kitchen supplies should be good.
Brian & Ike will take charge of grills/stoves.
Chuck is bringing new stove to container load-in.
We have a serious number of coolers out there (~15).
Jenn will do a pre-shopping trip to put some non-perishable stuff on the container.
We'll make a list of perishables for Colin or Ronny to bring mid-week (ice cream sandwiches!!! lettuce).
Soda is a waste of money - bring it yoself, if you want it.
Art - Tristram, not present
Boingy dangly blinky thing: Jenn's getting 30 of them, to hang in tunnel.
Work weekend to do wiring (update: there's a little work left to do, but the weekend was fairly successful and our lighting is going to be beautiful!).
Tunnel to be done make-shift on the playa. Tristram has PVC and cover will be procured from the storage locker.
Doug has a rough support structure for The Head; it'll be mounted somehow.
Bethany needs to talk to individuals about where art will be located within the camp.
Jenn has made us a lovely giant mirror.
Jenn's two chairs (one is plush) can go out on the container.
Craigslist some real furniture for the dome - light wicker stuff is great!
Cards to pass out at greeter shift are being made.
Stage - FiG
Booty Mash-Up is happening Friday night. They understand we don't have a huge sound system this year.
Bethany is procuring a white board for advertising our events.
Frame for white board: Doug will provide materials, FiG will make the frame, and perhaps Jenn will make it pretty for us.
Doug, Brian, and Curmudgeony Blake are getting sound stuff together.
We'll cordon off a small space between bar and stage, for secure storage of bar and stage equipment.
Kaos is giving us $200 for booze for their party.
Unclear: will Q or Reno early crew (Jenn/Bethany) do booze shopping?
Lots of vodka, some rum, gin (good gin!!!) + 4 or 5 mixers (cranberry juice, orange juice, tonic water, bloody mary mix, limes)
Drink recipe: 2 or 3 parts mixer, to 1 part booze.
Q will grab 5 folks at dinner each night and train them for bar next night
Costco is surprisingly good for liquors.
Keep bar clean & well-managed: key is to train people in advance.
Q is a ranger!
Big events: Tuesday Kaos party, Wednesday our party, Thursday 4-6pm New England happy hour, Thursday masquerade, Friday booty mash-up.
Buildings & Grounds - Steve
People bring their own cordless drills.
Steve bought a slide hammer for rebar.
We're renting Rob's rebar power driver.
Four sections of net will be lashed together here in Boston.
Brian is a Boy Scout who will help us with knots.
Doug will look at what cable he has, and there's some cable in Reno.
Tension ring? tension straps? cable?
We have an extreme excess of paracord.
How do we get into the net? Jenn has a fire ladder from a thrift store! Hang the ladder from above the netting, so that entry is easier.
Tie a piece of rope coming straight down with a PVC handhold.
5-8 shares left under the shade structure (Subconscious Oaks Neighborhood Development)
Ronny is organizing the shade structure, Erin is making it happen on playa.
The shade structure is the responsibility of people who buy in (not a camp responsibility).
Call about flatbed truck - need someone with credit card.
Send early crew schedule to everyone.
We will be able to get everything on the flatbed truck.
Drain gray water into truck washing bay!!
Early / Late Crews
Blurry will be early crew leader.
Steve, Doug, and Matt will drive the flatbed truck from Reno.
Still waiting to hear about early passes. Early arrival requestees:
early-early: Xuth, Blurry, Steve, Tristram, Matt, Fred, Doug
weekend-early: Bethany, Jenn, Pete, Blake, Ken, Ike, Erin, FiG, Katie, Kim, Alex
Late crew: Pete, Ike, James, Hannah, Romni, Cliff, Erin
Steve and Blurry can help out on-playa, and Q can help out in Reno. A few other people aren't leaving the playa till Tuesday, so there will be extra help lingering around.
Steamsub - FiG
propane powered
2 or 3 steambath propane tanks in Reno locker
We fill all propane tanks.
3 or 4 tanks tend to get used for kitchen.
Can we 'borrow' tanks from Tate at Sierra Welding?
Will we be gifted water?
~2 barrels of water to run steamsub.
Can individuals bring extra water as a cushion?
Separate mini evap pond for steamsub?
Only a few people will be trained to run it.
Camp water: pace ourselves till we gage how much we're going through.
In years past, we've gotten our water from the storage locker, but the guy who let us do that no longer works there.
If we can't fill them at the storage locker, we can fill our Twin City barrels with Twin City water.
50 gallons per barrel.
We have 12-14 barrels.
Buy bleach.
Greeters - Bethany
Our greeter shift will be Tuesday night/Wednesday morning midnight-4am.
We need 30+ people. We currently have 20 committed and should have no problem gathering extras on the playa.
Tuesday, Dragon from greeters' camp will be joining us for dinner, to brief us on our shift.
We must be at the greeter station by 11:45pm on Tuesday.
Power & Water - Blake, who was stuck in some other city
Anything to share?
Misc.
End of the week: security in the camp becomes an issue.
Don't be afraid to ask strangers who they are and why they're in our camp.
Doug can get some snow fencing, and pretty sure we have 2 rolls out in Reno.
Sands in Reno: We can park the flatbed truck at a truck parking lot nearby. Stuff has never been stolen.
Emily's Magic Egg for breakfast.
We officially have 32 (paid) members.
We're waiting on dues from 7 more: Romni, Cliff, Q, Ronny, Alex, Andrew, and Lee-kai.
