Agenda:

  • Placement news
  • Reconvening of working groups
  • Autosub at other local events
  • Membership/Recruitment update
  • Pod leadership potentials
Placement News:
Hive will happen! Woo!
Unexpectedly they told us our placement. Hopping sides for the first time in years, at 7:30&Esplenade
Considerably closer to center camp
Closer to Oasis 47 and Steambath project. Bah-ston.

MOVING ON

Working Groups:

Rotating Dome (did not meet)
Dome Re-Deco
Split into two working groups
Reskinning
Ideas: Two levels, doesn’t just come down add additional pvc pipe which forms a couch area for more dance floor space, covered in spandex.
Erika: The dome “muffin top”
Deco (Needs to reconvene)

Slide group - 3 Different designs!

  1. Design from Doug: Covered wagon model: full of hoops, $1k, made modular, can be made preplaya entirely. Gusset plates and pvc on the playa.
  2. Tristram: Cloth shute, steel pipes running parallel, high strength aerial acro fabric, hangy slide! Deforms left and right, but not length wise. Estimated cost: $200-300, packs up like a boss.(Doug- Inflatable slides for airplane crashes might be findable (Cliff).)
  3. David L: Similar to Doug’s design but not a trough. Plywood surface coered in vinyl. You can oil it! Estimated Cost: $270 at a height of 19 ft. Made up of 3 sections, for easy storage. Takes up 8 cu ft.
Concerns
Leatherman wearing people destroying the fabric slide
Pocketing would be too much
Provide people with things to slide on? “Pants Recommended”

Pete is now moving things along!

Working group will re-convene, look over detailed proposals and bring them back to the Camp.

Stilter Bar
Pecan & Q
Goal for this year:
Keep it as simple and easy as possible. Might need a sign...
Q wants to be in touch with the other worker groups to see how designs can be modified to account for a person up high, with a bottle to pour from.
Slide: Support tower made such that a person can pour drinks?
Skinning dome: Skin so that a flap can be raised? Or structure to stand on?
On top of containers? Too tall.
Pump liquids up to stilter height! Self driven bar, delivery device, pump (electric, hand cranked)

Pete is moving things along!

People are going to talk to Q.
Ideas have to be cheap, simple, easy, non-complex. And not complicated.
People who want to talk: David Gardner II, Erika and Ripley.
Propaganda Working Group
D. House
Mind control exists throughout society, totalitarianism. Why did you do that silly thing, human?
Performance art, progressively more militaristic brand, bright colors as logo, prop films.
Prop movie night, talk of the aesthetic of prop.
Is the group going to splinter?
Melinda wants to do Propaganda of Autosub, D. House Propaganda
The art for the Dome could be really influenced by this.
Ideas: running an election campaign wagon, Mayor of Burningman, Governor of Tuesday, wearing sashes, “1950’s campaign wagon,” buttons.
Forming a “State” of people, how is it majestic. “Every state needs an enemy to fight against, Tottenkitten?”
Melinda is splintering off from Propaganda to make Camp Identity, year round instead of one year project.

8:24pm

Zipline working group
Doug an others
Cost: $200, cable and testing to see if it is viable.
    • REDACTED TO MAINTAIN SURPRISE**
NO ass-less chaps.
Contact Doug Ruuska for more info.
Smoke & Steam Part II - Pete, Jenn, Steve
Using larger area, Steve K’s house
Mental block being farther away from. BUT stress test checked out turnout to March 17th event, 50+ turnout.
Noon to maybe 9/10pm, not competing with evening plans, there is room to setup the dome.
Porta potties, closed house as it is too small.
Hooping, poi.
Dates: Almost definitely May 12, Saturday before Mother’s day. Least likely to detract.
Capacity: 150-200
Work needs to be done getting word out, door needs to be repaired, 1 more grill, maybe two, seating, picnic tables, lights for grill area
Invitation over the next week, rain or shine event.
Another idea: Button inside the steam bath goes up to cooking area, vacancy/no vacancy.
Fundraiser for AutoSub. Part would also go to Steve.
Smoker scaled up? Dewb? Gardner II has 2 smokers might be available to offset size bump.
Jenn - “Wet Taint” Towels
Performance in the dome if it is set up?
Fundraiser is meant not for friends, but people not in the scene who will be more likely to be surprised by the awesome. Donation price: $30-35
Ordinance rules for dome?
Last year had 80ish people. Church of Steve!

CRANKING THROUGH

AutoSub associated with other groups.
Together, Cambridge Science Fest, etc.
Person to coordinate AutoSub’s presence, submitting things as an art project, figuring out how things can be coordinated.
Ripley?
May 12/13th Waltham is having Charles River Museum Steampunk City
“Figment” connected, sculpture and interactive art.
Having a Cat Wrangler to handle the art being sent out.
People send art idea/festival ideas to Ripley.
Storage - Chuck
$3700 up front storage container from Burning Man (may be less I we can move the container at Iveson Ranch), $500/ year for storage, $200 for transp back and forth.
How to deal with 15 empty water barrels.
JB: thought we could move back and forth. Isn’t looking like the best viable option.
Water- the Hive wanted water service, didn’t get it, $1/gallon, willing to negotiate again this year.
The money we would save on storage we would spend on water.
People should meet and talk about water.
Membership
More people have tickets than aware of!
Camp is strangely lucky...
22 people with tix want to camp with AutoSub already.
11 people have been contacted to potential buy from “Placement Tickets”.
9 people have never camped with AutoSub and want to go, don’t have tix.
Total number of interested, ticketed people: ~40
People have to jump on tickets early, because of the ticketing issue.
March 30th is the date!
There will be another meeting around March 30th.
If there is a person who wants to come and be part of AutoSub, invite them! Send them Pete’s way.
Pod Leadership - AutoSub creates a dizzying array of THINGS TO DO and titles, so many delicious titles.
There is A camp leader “Pete”
Beancounting Pod: Chuck
Buildings and Grounds
Make sure things get built and look good. Early crew builds structure, B&G makes sure everything is placed, built well and well kept.
Coordinate a lot with the early crew lead and wrangles volunteers.
Power
Coordinating with other members of the camp to have power distributed the way it should be. And that things get fixed! Also responsible for fuel (kitchen and fire art)
Water
Self explanatory, kitchen needs water, water is managed. People drinking enough water.
Water use is not linear throughout the week.
Evap pond and coordinating whomever is leading the steambath.
Q - Any chance of being able to budget AS water for limited shower project?
Cooler water was sufficient for needs.
Ruuska - We have a fixed amount of water we bring each year. We had more water than we needed last year...
Safety Pod
Ensuring extinguishers are located, known and available. First aid kits are restocked, accessible.
Knows medical issues of members in camp.
LNT
VERY important. Leave No Trace. It is ongoing and perpetual; the reason why BMorg likes us.

Working with buildings and grounds, grants to work on art projects, coordinating funds and money isn’t disappearing into abyss.
Sound Pod
In charge of sound! Getting sound up and running, handling logistics, etc.

Bookings
EPlaya, contact lists, fun interesting events happening throughout the week, person has assistant for early morning things. Jeremy?
Must have Daft Punk this year.

Help out the Virgins! Big kick from the Org is acculturation, BM ethos is passed on to the next generation and new members.
Make sure they read the survivor guides, lay in the dust, drink water, etc.
Fluffer pod!
Cheerleaders, plate full of delicious, fluffing the workers.
Beer Pod
Very important
Trash and Recycling
Very important, dealing with refuse. Properly accounted for, recycling center, composts.

DPW has asked we be more self reliant.
Less call for trenching and dome raising.
May need crane (or crane like thing) to raise dome...
