What (we wanna do)

Two-story geodesic dome with lazy susan floor

  • Instead of recreating the cube, build a geodesic dome out of 3/4" conduit (thanks, Matt), then place a platform inside to create a second story.
  • Skin the space beneath the platform, to create a mostly-enclosed room.
  • Leave the space above the platform unskinned, to create an open observation deck.
  • Make the floor of the dome a giant, motorized lazy susan.
  • Chill hang-out space on top of the lazy susan.
  • Make only one door off the lazy susan, such that you have to wait until the lazy susan door aligns with a door in the dome, in order to enter or exit.
  • Set up the bar next to the lazy susan, such that you can grab a drink as you spin by.
  • Tunnels/walkways leading into the dome: multi-purpose spaces for art or dancing.
  • Use The Head at the front of the camp, e.g. as an entrance to a tunnel.
  • Bar and curtains separating our kitchen from the dome and other public spaces.
  • Camp layout proposed.  For those interested: meeting to refine the layout soon.
  • Dome design: Bethany, Blake, and David; to be worked out by next camp meeting
  • Dome construction: Ronny and everyone; to be constructed in Ronny or Steve's back yard before we hit the playa
  • Lazy susan design: Tristram
  • Lazy susan motorization: Doug?
  • Observation deck on top of containers?  Wouldn't make Container Camp happy.

Other ideas tossed around

  • Beer toss: Pete building a potato canon (er, beer can canon) and Tristram building a trebuchet
  • Kitchen: late plates
  • Host the "best party on playa" on Tuesday again?
  • Space for Booty Mash-Up again?
  • Find a free piano on craigslist and ship it out on the container?
  • Reincarnate Classical Cafe?
  • Hookah bar?
  • Puzzle/challenge to get into our chill space?
  • Sensory deprivation project?

Personal projects within camp, maybe camp projects?

  • James is creating an "infinite canvas"--a virtual canvas some number of times bigger than the country of France, on which folks can draw.  (Jimmy, feel free to write a more eloquent description!)  It'll live in camp and be running 24/7, but James may let others use the screen/projector for other things if needed.
  • James is also interested in continuing ice cream and should talk to Rob Darman about LN2.
  • Bethany wants to dedicate some time each day for non-electronica music.  Jazz, swanky blues, an evening with Philip Glass, etc.  Let her know if you want in on music selection.

Where (we wanna be)

  • Esplanade!  That's right, folks.  After talking about art and construction projects for a while, we came to the giddy conclusion that Automatic Subconscious is destined to be an esplanade camp.
  • Will be requesting to not be near a noise camp, Entheon, or the Brits from last year.
  • Kaos will be happening, and they do not want to camp on the esplanade.  Can they camp behind us, on A, so that we can share resources and be close to those we lurve?  Pete Z to contact Beaker.

Other

  • Talk now to the Powers That Be who organize early arrivals. Even though it probably won't change our numbers, it couldn't hurt to develop a good relationship early-on.
  • Start having weekly workdays a.s.a.p.
  • Pod leaders: start having pod meetings, to plan more detailed matters.

Next meeting: Sunday, April 19 at Pete & Jenn's

Before next meeting

Bethany, Pete, and Doug to talk about budget/camp dues.

Bethany, Blake, and David to work out dome design so that we can begin construction soon.

Did I miss anything?
