Agenda: 1) Do we want AutoSub to happen at Burning Man this year? Do we have the motivation, time, money and tickets to make it happen

3) What form will AutoSub take in 2012? Structured open discussion. -Will we be 30 people? 50? Merge with another Hive Camp? Another non-Hive Camp? -Will we look the same? Continue Dome project? Be on Esplanade? Be in the Hive?

4) What's NEW for AutoSub in 2012? Stagnation = death. What new things will the camp do this year? -Dream's crazy ideas -Dan's crazy ideas -Pete's crazy ideas

5) Fund Raising. Its never too early -Steam & Smoke 2? -Pete's crazy collaboration idea

6) Placement Questionnaire Decisions Will we have an: -Art Car? -Flame effects?

Minutes:

1. Yes AutoSub will exist again this year.

2. Ticket Update From people replying to Pete’s e-mails, we know that:

People who will not be coming this year: Linda May and Eric, FiG and JenFish, Lil Debbie, Mat Fries, Cobalt, Hannah, Dani and Stevi, Pete Lyons

People who are interested and have tickets: Dream, Xuth, Kubo, Rich, MattO, Jeremy, David Levy, Doug, Dewb, Dan Levy and Hayley, Phil & Liz (may not be able to attend), Mindy (not 100% sure of AS)

Interested Vets with out tix: Pete Z, Dan Strange, Gougy, Damon, Tristram, el Brew Ho, Lark, Max Eskin, Jon McD,

Not currently camping with AutoSub but possibly convincible: Chuck, Tish, Ike (has ticket)

Interested old Subbers/ not Subbers Pecan, Emile, Sabrina, Brian and Ashley, David House, Jessie and Amanda

Total: 11-14 ticketed members 28-35 already interested

July 20 last year at 25 paid. Ended up at 37.

Pete will submit the application tomorrow. Hopefully know in a week.

3. What form will AutoSub take this year?

Forgoing discussion of merging with other camps due to large member interest. If other smaller camps want to glom on want to merge in, will be a case by case basis.

Last week a very good Hive (Boston Village) meeting. Jered is happy to run the Hive again.

Hive is currently: AutoSub, Dub Scouts, Quality, Covered in Bees, Kaos, sriracha camp

All camps very optimistic

4. What’s NEW for AutoSub this year?

AutoSub has had an ellipsoidal diagrid dome with an annular net for the past 3 years.

New and exciting ideas!

A. Dan Strange: Rotating dome! Trench with wheels Anyone interested in helping? Doug, Damon, Sharon, Xuth, David, Dewb, Hous, Tristram, Erika, Rich.

B. Dream: Re-do interior dome deco Working Group: Pecan, Erika, Rich, Struggles, Jessie

C. Pete Z: 1. Modify and improve the slide to have a second exit from the dome. Working Group: Jon McD, Doug, Damon, Sharon, Dewb, Amanda, Levy, Tristram, Erika, Jessie, Struggles, 2. Work with Pete Durand and have Hive and early arrivals in one truck to have one empty truck to do something like a night market truck or have a viewing platform on top.

Doug has design for a zipline in a trailer, with spikes. Working Group: Gowdy, Doug, Damon, Sharon, Dewb., Amanda, House, Pecan, Erika, Tristram, Dream.

Melinda: Something different each day as private project

D. Amanda: Tight rope inside dome: structural?

Gang plank or tightrope from trailer to dome.

E: Matto: hip skirt if we raise the dome to create more floor space, gallery style seating. Also assumes that uf raise the dome, need to extend the skin: Dome Tutu??!!

F. Q: Longest running Stilter bar – could be done from container, if we raise the dome, the widest part of the diagrid would be out and could lean out as a bar, depending on how we construct the slide, if need a support platform.

  • need to let you know it’s there (especially for stiltter pub crawl)
  • Also, want a place to hang out and lean (high chairs)

G. Sculpture garden, garden of optical illusions (someone else in Hive?)

H. Jessie: Propaganda - creating a symbol as powerful as a totalitarian state symbol. Working group: Gowdey, Damon Sharon, Lark, Q, Melinda, House, Pecan, Tristram, Jeremy, Pete, Dream.

In events: Hive and AutoSub

Questions: Where does money come from and how is it distributed? Camper dues

What happened to the flags from the cube? Made new each year due to loss. Can make easily. Discussion for future.


5. Fundraising

A. Steam and Smoke 5 people we don’t know have asked when the Smoke and Steam is going to happen! Mega Seth has offered his place.

Who is interest in helping to organize something in April? Gowdey, Levy, Q, Dewb, Melinda, Jessie, Amanda, Erika, Pete, Struggles, dream

B. Becoming a year-round group Approached by Disorient to have a joint party. Concerns that they just want our $$$ If we are going out of our ‘market’ they have the resources to tap those. Tie in to North Hampton, Providence or Worcester. Discomfort with the concept of Market, desire to not co-modify us. Community building. Concerns about cultural annilation – don’t want to become a porange suburb and lose sight of our own identity . Liking some qualities of work ethic of NY. Event by event basis., add Disorient to our events Larger push for NE regional events. Work with Disorient to build up community in 3rd city (New Haven, Worcester, Providence, etc…) Would not be doing ALL events with them. Do it once see how it goes. Date has been proposed: Last weekend of April, first weekend of May Mix of DJs Mix of Porange Monthly events through CEMMI sat Wonderland?

Psyforia: co-opted by Figment as a fundraiser on the 28th
