AutoSub 365 is a TERRIBLE name: New Name: AutoSubiquitous led by the AutoDom (Ripley)
AutoSubiquitous Figment: Setting up dome, starts at 9am. Need 10 people to load out the dome at 7:30 or 8am from Hooch’s house. Then need an additional 15 people to do minor lifting (hahaha)
Question: Is Figments supplying the truck? Load in, load out at Figment, build, tear down Sunday. During event dome-sitting.
Ronny will send an email in the next week or two looking for volunteers. Chuck has all the nuts and bolts.
CEMMI and AutoSub at Figment: Dome has a skin that goes over it, going to partially skin it at Figment so people can see what is going on inside. First year half skinned alternating. This year CEMMI (an A/V hacker group) is going to be doing a light and music show inside. Need skin to project on to it.
Madelaine: Talked to CEMMI, they want to have projection on the inside during the day. Focus on interactive classes inside the dome they will be curating classes and Madelaine will be curating performances in the dome, if you are interested it must be something you can share with other people with no branding or commercialism. (Jeremy can help with booking)
Even fully covered too bright. If skinned fully takes time. Can’t go back and forth of skinned to not skinned. Idea: do half of the dome like a half shell, maybe paraschute.
If you are interested in working on this contact Ripley.
If you want to show your art CONTACT RIPLEY! She can’t send it out if she doesn’t know if exists.
SOS: Firefly Gallery show @ Artisan’s Asylum Canvas will be shown, perhaps group ASubbers together near the murals. If you still want to show, the dead line has past but contact her anyway!
Steam and Smoke: May 12, 2012 day time event, 1-9pm Currently 85 people attending on FB, half of which are camp members. Reentry is ok.
PROMOTION!!!! This is the 3rd time we are having this event. First time was a huge success, second time moderate success, this time BOMBASTIC SUCCESS!
Idea is to have this be an AutoSub style party: we are known for infrastructure, beer and eating strangely well.
Invite people who when they walk into a space and see food, beer, a steam bath and perhaps aerials and will be SURPRISED by it.
CONCEPT IS TO TAP FRIENDS WHO DON’T BURN but would be down for a house party with extras.
If you invite people to a thing on Facebook and you want them to go, include a message! What they need to see is that is will be a good time. “Hey guys this is awesome, I think you’d like it. Come check it out!”
DJ line up will be announced next week: Paranoid Zen and Geisha Complex, Serial Crusher, FiG, Jeff Mission.
Pete would like to send out one update this week and then have YOUR FRIENDS see this update!
Waiting on Jeremy and Desiccant to announce performances . . . (crickets) will talk to LizM and Phil about the tri-pod
Food is a big selling point, Desiccant, Dewb and Evan talked, will have enough food. Desiccant has 2 smokers and a grill. Shopping list from the previous two years, anyone have it? - veggie sloppy joe? Desiccant can cover see acquiring food, setting menu, shopping.
BEER: Facing minor beer shortage, everyone is brewing for FF. If you know people please have them contact Pete.
Currently have 6 kegs of beer + 10-20 gallons of mixed drinks.
Would like 2 more kegs, can reimburse ingredients and entry.
DECO: Dewb and Pete Dilworth may have a project, if it is ready for SOS Ripley might have something
FLOW: Erika: If people have personal quanset huts in case of rain or for changing room can they bring it? (Ronny, Jon [with transport help]), Daiva)
Between now and then:
WORK WEEKENDS: 2 engineering types to work on a new door – Chuck
Email out this week for volunteers: Door Food/Grill Bar Steam bath
This event is less than a mile from the Steampunk City and there are busses that run between them. Cross mention both of them.
Finalization of the working groups: Strangers rotating dome: conclusion is that it is possible. Cost about $3000-$5000
1. Secret Project of DOOM! $300 + lots of labor
2. AutoSub branding: No word, cut.
3. Slide of DOOM! 3 working designs all about $750-1000 A) Doug: linked halved trash cans covered with lining. B) Tristram’s design, fabric with pipes and trash cans: retail prices on pipe and trash cans either $608 for ¼ in pipe, or $750 for ½ in. C) Levy: wooden trusses with a wooden plank
Jon McD will run the slide working group.
4. Stilter bar: AutoSub has the longest continuously running Stilter Bar on playa in various form.
Current concept: (Q and Brian D) small pump and vertical pipe with a nozzle at the end. Sign at the top “ring bell for service” if that fails “Booze on a stick”
Other option working with the slide, if there is a middle structure for someone to sit.
Rough cost $350 (Chuck may be able to provide PEX)
5. Dome deco: $850
6. Dome tutu: $500
7. Raising the dome $1000
8. One thing all vets agree on is getting our gear off JB’s ranch.
9. Crane rental?
Idea of what dues will be to help you understand why we need successful fundraising!
Based loosely on last years budget, if we do nothing new the base cost of the camp is about $15,000 (based on 40 people).
Two of those fees are based on per person count – kitchen and Hive fees. Includes transport, beer, art grants, P&W, stage, sound, trash and recycling fee.
Estimated budget with all projects: $25000 at 40 people $626 per person. At 50 people $525. Pre-fundraiser!
If we raise $2000 comes down. Set dues then raise them after Firefly.
Last year 36 people $485 people. SAME as if we had a rotating dome with 50 people.
VOTING ON BUDGET: Keep: Stilter Bar: 17 x SPAD: 12 x Tutu: 17 x Slide: 10 x Dome deco: 16 x Rotating dome: 5 x
Preferential voting: SPAD: $300 79 Slide: $750 74 Deco: $850 50 Tutu: $500 75 Stilter: $300 48
How to keep email more readable: Everyone on the email list also gets signed up for an announce list.
