AutoSub Meeting Minutes
Date: June 6, 2010
Present: Tristram, Doug, Dan Strange, MegaSeth, Linda May, Eric, Ronny, Tish, Chuck, Ike, Pete Z, Noah, Kim Beth, Melinda, Hooch, Amber, Steve, Jen. Pretzel, Courtny, Dream, Q, Pretzel, Desiccant, Madelaine. Zayla

Dates and crews:
Container placer first to arrive.
Shock troops crew: Tuesday 24th or 25, someone goes out to playa almost immediately to place camp. Others unload storage locker, rent flat-bed, fill water, head up to playa to build kitchen, first shade structure, prepare camp for others arrival.
Also, Reno shopper arrive about the same time to gather food for kitchen.
Early crew - Thursday, Friday, Saturday – to help set up rest of buildings, others help with last minute shopping.
Dome set up starts on Monday, usually have a Tuesday night party, if something is not done by Wednesday it’s not getting done and will be packed away to save space.
Festival ends night of 5th or 6th – mass exodus
Late crew leaves 8th – Tuesday, fly out Wednesday
Volunteers requested.

Shock troop – (Tuesday) Doug, Tristram, Desiccant, Courtny, Steve, Pretzel, Pete, Chuck, Tish, MegaSeth, Dream, Hooch (Rangers might be able to get passes)
~arrive in Reno Tuesday night
Friday/Saturday – Dan Strange, Ronny (Fri), Melinda, Q, Courtny. Eric and Linda
Transportation – Tristram – flew into San Fran and rented a van there because cheaper/less likely to be penalized for dust. He will organize the van. He is planning on early early – fly into San Fran on 23 (Monday) – leaving Monday during exodus
Amber flying into Reno on 28th (Sunday) 7:30pm has a minivan room for at least 3ppl. Leaving Monday exodus.
Contact Tristram or Amber if you would like to coordinate rides with them.
Q – fly to San Fran, takes train to Reno (under $100)
Explain GRRLZ and GEEKS – roles
Two working groups not pods. Designed to do a function and then dissolve. Not necessarily camp members.
GRRLZ Gerkin Restoration Revitilization Loveliness Zone– ring of canvas just under the opening, panels hanging down from there. Have budgets.
GEEKS – working on erecting the dome – two ways of getting the dome up if we extend it.
Would like to do a tower that can then become a light sculpture.
Jack like/engine hoist - *back up plan
Damon had a good discussion with Phil about a proven hoist system – more
details needed

Netting – Tristram, Matt and KimBeth – working on designs, meeting Tuesday then will have an open meeting for all interested parties
Storage – less than reliable, guy is not a very good communicator
Deisel generator – we are only willing to put in so much, if village not willing to put in the rest it’s not going to happen

Early crew, place the camp, maintain tidiness of camp, fences (wrought iron?)
Forman for dome –

Sound – communicate with artists to find out what their needs are (Gowdey)
LNT and Safety – monitor waste stream, split into food, recycling, burnables, removable, organize moop at end and DAILY (hopefully on late crew), make sure fire extinguishers and med kits are prepared and accessible, allergies

Organizing artists, placement of art, lighting of dome?, booking events (FiG)

How to decide who is in the camp??? 40-45 people
No first come first served.
Submit application including what your going to contribute.
Crew, pods/leaders, seniority, contributions,
Senior folk vouch for or sponsor new people
Give people an expectation, are they willing to meet it.
Describe why they want to go to Burning Man?
Send out an email – we’re narrowing our camp, we need to know if your really interested, this is how much dues are
Trust Pete to make the decision? yes
Committee?
Mix – 40 people selected, lottery for 5 spots.
Send out email, gauge level of interest, if over the limit and people who want to be involved and those who want to make those types of decisions can come
Next meeting: Monday June 21, at Kim Beth’s at 29 Day Street, Davis Square
